Due to other commitments our original cast members, Miranda and Barney, couldn't make it to filming on the date we chose so we decided to cast similar looking people, Rachael Sherwin and Fraser Richardson, to be in our music video.

Test shot analysis

The problems we have found with our test shots are:

  • The woods were too sheltered and blocked most of the natural light, therefor to overcome this we plan to find a more open piece of woodland to film in.
  • Due to the natural light through the window changing frequently in the bedroom scene we struggled to get a consistent desired focus on the actors. When re-shooting we will take studio lights with us to light the scene rather than rely on the natural light. The window will be blacked out to assure no interference with the light quality.
  • The "do not disturb" sign needs to be produced on a computer in order to make it look legitimate.

Test shots

These are location test shots and some small clips in which we are going to re-film for our music video.

Inspiration for album cover

Yesterday I (Lucy) went to the Tate Modern to see the Daido Moriyama and William Klein exhibition, where I saw these example's of Moriyama's work which were a boost of inspiration for our album cover:

Inspiration for concept

These are the sort of places we plan on filming and the two models are inspiration for what our cast are going to wear.

Inspiration for concept

album cover inspiration

Throughout our music video we intend to accentuate the red lips of our protagonist, Venus to portray her seductive personality, therefore our album cover will be based solely around this concept.

cast list

CAST:

1. Miranda Collis, playing Venus.
We believe she's good for the part as from the start of our planning we pictured using a tall, brunette girl to play Venus.
2. Barney Shanks, Playing the man.
His athletic frame and handsome face lead us to cast him as he was almost exactly the person we were visualising to play the part.

REJECTIONS:

Josh Evans: Too short.
Lauren Edwards: Too short compared to male potentials.
Danielle Wickham: Not confident in front of the camera.
Josh Williams: Not what we were imagining.

Concept ideas

The idea's we have so far are:

- Build a model city on a small scale then have "Venus" walking through it surrounded by toy soldiers to portray the men that will later appear in the video. She will walk confidently through the city and pick out one of the toy soldiers. Using editing software we will make it appear as though the toy soldier morphs into a man. The buildings will then fade into a forest scene where the woman portraying Venus will be dressed in a lion head dress and will persist of prowling on the man in question. The video will then cut to the woman, towering over a man tied to a bed in his underwear, she circles the bed, leans over to the man appearing to kiss him then takes his watch and wallet from the bedside table, walks out the room and turns a sign on the door to read "do not disturb".

Introduction

We are studying A2 media and plan to use a Films of Colour track for our music video. Here is an example of one of their videos for their single "Circles".
